CLASSIC - LITHIUM Quick Start (archived)
Last Updated 3 years ago

*** UPDATED 9/ ***

There are 3 voltages we need to set to get the Classic to charge Lithium Batteries.

Here are some settings to start with:

ABSORB VOLTAGE = 14.5v per 12v  (14.5v=12v battery, 29v=24v battery, 58v=48v battery)
(Battery Manufacturer will have this, best to check with them)
ABSORB Time = 5 minutes

FLOAT = 13.5v per 12v (13.5v=12v battery, 27v=24v battery, 54v=48v battery)
(Battery Manufacturer will have this, best to check with them)

WBJR Shunt required for these
ENDAMPS =  USE SHUNT = 10 AMPS
(Battery Manufacturer will have this, best to check with them)

REBULK = FLOAT May work okay with some setups, try this first to see.
REBULK = 13v x number of 12v sections. (13v=12v battery, 26v=24v battery, 52v=48v battery)
(Battery Manufacturer will have this, best to check with them)

OBSERVATIONS:
1)  It is not unusual for the Classic to go to RESTING during FLOAT as battery voltage remains higher after a full charge.
2)  The Classic will not assist loads in FLOAT during the day unless the battery voltage drops to less than FLOAT for 90 seconds.
3)  The Classic will not return to BULK unless in FLOAT and battery voltage is less than/equal to REBULK for 90 seconds.
4) Some Lithium Battery manufacturers have you set FLOAT to DISABLE or in the CLASSIC to 10 VOLTS. Doing this will STOP the Classic from being able to make any power until the Lithium Battery is run down to 10 VOLTS!  Not suggested to set FLOAT this LOW!!
REBULK will NOT work here as the Classic will show RESTING. REBULK Does NOT work while the Classic is RESTING!!
