Frequently Asked Question

How does Midnite know I over-voltaged my controller?
Last Updated 7 years ago

After you have repaired as many Charge Controllers as we have, the signs are there.
Lightning has a distinct signature and Over-Voltage does as well.
The KID (tm) and the BRAT (tm) both have the same signs of over-voltage. Damaged transistors. Shorted. KaPutt.

The Classic on the other hand is unique, it has a "black box recorder" like the big planes have, cockpit voice recorder function.
It saves in non-volatile memory the last Input Voltage it saw before it was damaged.  This memory can only be cleared by our technicians in the shop.
So before you call in for an RMA, be warned we know.
