Frequently Asked Question
KID - SYNC - TWIN MODE aka BULLY MODE
Last Updated 4 years ago
Be sure to have a cross-over type phone cable (4 cond or 6 cond) connected between the two KID's MASTER JACKS before powering on.
Each KID needs a 30A Circuit Breaker installed on the POS BATTERY terminal. It is suggested that the two breakers be "ganged" together so both are turned OFF & ON together. Some breakers have a hole in the handle to accommodate this. A small nail or piece of wire can be used to accomplish this. DO NOT RUN THE PV WIRES INTO ONE KID AND JUMP OVER TO THE 2ND KID.
TWIN MODE uses a single PV array. Somewhere the home run needs to be split so a #10 AWG set of wires can be run to each KID. It is important that these wires be exactly the same length from the split. A buss bar can be used for the splitting or some other wire connector that allows three wires to be connected together.
The Battery wires also need to be exactly the same length from the point of splitting. If connecting each KID directly to the battery then each set of wires needs to be the same length.
Different lengths of wires have slightly different resistance characteristics and will effect how well the two KIDs operate in TWIN MODE.
You can enable TWIN mode after the first POWER UP or from the COMM Menu. After that it should be permanent until a VMM or FACTORY RESET is preformed.
KEEP PV NEGATIVES AND BATTERY NEGATIVES SEPARATED! THEY ARE NOT COMMON.
